The Jo Cox tragedy has inevitably overshadowed a notable by-election result
This email is to tell you about a new Ephems blog post, http://www.barder.com/4688, “The Jo Cox tragedy has inevitably overshadowed a notable by-election result”. This offers a summary of the results of yesterday’s by-election in the London constituency of Tooting (where incidentally my wife and I live and vote), held to elect a new MP in place of Labour’s Sadiq Khan, called to higher things as the newly elected Mayor of London. The result – a Labour victory for Dr Rosena Allin-Khan, who more than doubled her predecessor’s majority – has some interesting implications for e.g. Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership of the Labour party, how far the murder of Jo Cox influenced the Tooting result, and any fall-out for next week’s EU referendum, all of which are discussed in the new post.

Best wishes from another cool showery day in the Tooting constituency with its new MP
